Choosing and Selecting Funeral Songs

It is understandable when people have a difficult time selecting funeral songs to play at a memorial service for a loved one. The array of emotions one experiences during a death can be quite complex and overwhelming.  That is why its important to find a great resource in which you can gain some valuable insight and recommendations. This gives you a starting point of reference and can steer you in the right direction.

The Funeral Program Site
offers a great selection of funeral songs listed by genres. Go to the category that best meets the favorites of your loved one and check out the listings of songs recommended for funerals. You may also see some song titles that may surprise you.

When my aunt passed away, they played Elvis Presley songs for the prelude and throughout the service as well as in the postlude. There was not a piano player or organist in sight. That is because playing Elvis’ songs was her. That’s what she would have wanted, that’s what she loved to listen to when she was alive. So it was a form of a tribute to her at her ceremony. And no one blinked twice about it because they knew it was an extension of who she was.

The songs were played by a DVD player and it was beautiful background music when the guests arrived and departed. It’s good to remember that so you can include songs that were meaningful in some way to the deceased.

This is a good place to start, see the list of funeral songs here for your consideration.
